You'll experience a powerful, grounded approach to getting Egyptian baladi into your body in a deep way... not the machine-like internationalized, predictable "modern baladi" but the earthy, grounded original, inspired by dancers like Tahia Carioca, Soheir Zaki, Fifi Abdou.

If you want to get a strong physical and cultural understanding of Egyptian baladi, and feel more confident about yours, join us. Whether you are a beginner or already an experienced Egyptian-style dancer or teacher, you'll build your baladi to the next level in this program.

From there we move on to classic oriental "Golden Era" dance, building the technique and musicality from the baladi improvisation tradition -- not from the modern "combos and choreo" approach. We'll work with an organic development of technique that evolves melodically, inspired by the original stars of Egyptian raqs sharqi.
